1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use BahaRoam, we may collect:

• Account information, such as your email address and profile information used to create or manage an account.
• Business information submitted by owners or representatives, such as business name, category, island, area, address, contact details, website, social media, hours, description, logo, cover image, deals, and claim information.
• Review information, such as star ratings, written reviews, review status, and the account associated with a review. Public reviews may identify the reviewer only as a BahaRoam member unless a different display feature is introduced.
• Communications you send to us, including support requests, correction requests, business submissions, claim requests, and other messages.
• Newsletter and interest information, such as an email address submitted to receive updates or to express interest in a business plan.
• Usage and analytics information, such as business profile views and clicks on call, WhatsApp, website, Instagram, directions, or deal links. BahaRoam may use a limited browser identifier to reduce accidental duplicate analytics events.
• Technical information that may be generated automatically by our hosting, security, authentication, email, and infrastructure providers, such as IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, and security logs.

2. How we use information

• Provide, operate, secure, and improve BahaRoam.
• Create and manage user, business-owner, and administrator features.
• Review business submissions, claims, deals, and reviews for approval or moderation.
• Display approved business information, public deals, and published reviews.
• Provide business owners with performance analytics for businesses they control.
• Respond to support, privacy, correction, and business-related requests.
• Send service messages, account confirmation emails, and communications you requested.
• Detect spam, fraud, abuse, security threats, and misuse of the platform.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use and other policies.

3. Legal and privacy principles

We aim to handle personal information fairly, use it for stated or compatible purposes, keep it relevant to those purposes, avoid retaining it longer than reasonably necessary, and use appropriate safeguards. These principles are consistent with the Data Protection (Privacy of Personal Information) Act of The Bahamas. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

4. When information is shared

We do not sell personal information to advertisers. We may share information only as reasonably necessary with:

• Service providers that help us host, authenticate, store, secure, email, or operate the platform. BahaRoam currently uses services including Cloudflare, Supabase, and Resend.
• Business owners or representatives when needed to process a claim, listing correction, or support request.
• Authorities, courts, advisers, or other parties where disclosure is required by law, needed to protect rights or safety, or necessary to address fraud or misuse.
• A successor or transaction party if BahaRoam is reorganized, sold, merged, or transferred, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Some service providers may process information outside The Bahamas. Where that occurs, we use providers and arrangements that are reasonably appropriate for the service being provided.

5. Public information

Approved business listings, business contact information, business photos, published deals, and published reviews are intended to be public. Do not submit information for public display unless you have the right to provide it.

6. Cookies, local storage, and analytics

BahaRoam may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies for login sessions, preferences, security, and basic analytics. Some third-party infrastructure providers may also use necessary technologies to deliver and protect the service. If optional advertising or advanced tracking is added later, this policy and any consent controls will be updated before use where required.

7. Retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. The exact period depends on the type of information. We may retain limited records after account or listing removal where reasonably necessary for security, legal, or audit purposes.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls and security features provided by our infrastructure providers. No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and requests

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you, subject to applicable law and legitimate retention needs. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also unsubscribe from marketing emails using the available unsubscribe method or by contacting us.

10. Young users

BahaRoam is a general-audience discovery service. If you are below the age at which you may independently consent to account or contractual terms under applicable law, use account, business-owner, or paid features only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. We do not intentionally design the service to collect unnecessary personal information from children.

11. Third-party links and businesses

BahaRoam may link to business websites, social media accounts, maps, WhatsApp, phone numbers, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are controlled by them, not BahaRoam.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as BahaRoam changes. Material changes will be reflected by a revised effective date and, where appropriate, a notice on the site.
